Buffalo's Insane. That's right! Insane! No? You don't believe me? Well, get over to Main Street Cabret (Alleyway's adjunct theater) to see GREATER TUNA, starring Christopher Standart and Thomas (Great Legs) LaChiusa for American Repertory Theater.
Now I saw this show years ago at Studio Arena and did not really think much of it. But I think the venue might have been too big for the show as it is only two men and requires a very small set (at least it appears so from the production from ART). But I forget really why. So never mind.
This production, as directed by TOM DOONEY, is on the mark (a very small glitch happened tonight but I am assured by Brigid Hannon, the Stage Manager, that it will not happen tomorrow night or thereafter.) C'mon, it was opening night in a theatre with no backstage, and not all that noticeable.
CHRISTOPHER STANDART could easily be committed based on his multitudinous performances (male and female) as could THOMAS LACHIUSA (also male and female w/GREAT LEGS!!!!) Both are pure wonderful and work well together and off each other.
When actors complain about how difficult it is to learn a script, I will always hope that they have seen this show. I don't know how they did it either, unless they have had months to work on it. Not to mention the endless costume changes (wigs, shoes, dresses, everything) done in a miniscule space. And their timing is wonderful. Along with their mastery of the TAXASS AKSENT. (I lived in Texas for almost a year and know whereof I speak.)
I LMAO (Facebook talk) at just about every joke, but totally lost it over "dook". Not going to explain that. See the show. NO! REALLY! SEE THE SHOW!!! FUNNY AS HELL!! (And yes, it is corny,,,,but it works.)
